"China: Towards a Modern Financial System"
International Conference on China's Financial Reform
August 22-24, 1996
Beijing, China
The Chinese Finance Association (CFA) is in the process of
organizing an international conference in Beijing on
monetary and financial reform and development of a modern
financial system. The conference is co-organized by the
Committee of Economic Educational Exchange with the U.S
(CEEEUS), Chinese Economists Society (CES), Center for
China's Economic Research (CCER), and Chinese Society for
Financial Studies (SFS). It is scheduled to be held
August 22-24, 1996, in Beijing, China
OBJECTIVE:
The objective of the conference is to provide an opportunity
through which the best economic researchers, government
officials, and financial pratitioners, both from China and
other countries, can get together and combine their
collective wisdom to tackle various issues in modernizing
China's financial system. We expect that the proceedings of
the conference will provide a systematic study of China's
financial and monetary system, an insightful comparative
study of existing financial systems in the world economy, a
comprehensive review of the experience and lessons from the
reforms in the past fifteen years, and therefore shed
significant new light on the directions of further
development of China's financial sector. The results of the
conference will be disseminated through various channels to
policy makers, academics and practitioners.
PARTICIPANTS:
The main participants of the conference will consist of policy
makers from China and world-renowned scholars from both the U.S.
and China. The conference also calls for submissions for
presentations at the conference. The final participants from the
U.S. will be selected based on the excellence and relevance of
their proposals submitted to a joint committee by the CFA and the
CES. Participants from China will be selected by the Chinese
co-organizers.
