| The Chinese Finance Association Hosts 16th Annual Conference in New York |

The Chinese Finance Association (TCFA, www.tcfaglobal.org) hosted its 16th annual conference on October 30, 2010 in New York City. This conference attracted more than 840 attendees, including our members from the New York, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and Washington DC chapters and other regions in the U.S. This year’s conference was held at the New York University Skirball Center in New York City. The theme of this year’s conference was “Global Recovery and Financial Structural Changes after the Crisis: Opportunities and Challenges for China,” which focused on the impact of quantitative easing in the U.S., the sovereign debt problems in Europe, competitive devaluation of currencies, global financial regulatory reform, and the further development of China’s economy and capital markets. Our distinguished Chinese keynote speakers included Dr. Daochi Tong, Director General of China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), Dr. Guobo Huang, Chief Economist of China State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), and Mr. Yuan Zhou, Head of Asset Allocation and Strategic Research of China Investment Corp (CIC). Our prominent U.S. keynote speakers included the legendary private equity investor Wilbur Ross, CEO of WL Ross & Co., Stephen Roach, Chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia and renowned Asia expert, and Byron Wien, Vice Chairman of the Blackstone Advisory Partners, one of the most influential people on Wall Street. In addition, we had several panel discussions featuring senior representatives from major international investment banks including Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley and well-known global hedge funds such as Pequot Capital and Perry Capital; as well as leading Chinese securities firms such as China International Capital Corporation (CICC), CITIC Securities, and China Merchants Securities, major Chinese mutual fund companies including Bosera Asset Management, Harvest Fund, and HuaAn Fund, top private equity and alternative investment funds, and the leading Chinese financial information provider Wind Info. This year’s conference also featured a career panel with key representatives from SAFE, CIC, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Financial Work and CITIC Securities. We hosted a concurrent job fair including important Chinese financial organizations such as SAFE, CIC, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Financial Work, major securities and fund management firms. New to this year’s program was a half-day Best Paper symposium featuring renowned scholars from both the U.S. and China, discussing the latest development in academic research related to the financial market in China. Included are the news features from the following internationally-renowned media: Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal and BBC. The conference was also covered by top Chinese media including CCTV (中央电视台), Phoenix TV (凤凰卫视) , China Business News (第一财经日报), 21st Century Business Herald (21 世纪经济报道), Xinhua News, NY (新华社), Economic Daily and Ta Kung Pao (大公报), who had conducted extensive interviews with the conference speakers and produced TV specials on the current conditions of the markets as well as job prospects in China. |
