* Police Charge UBS Trader With Fraud
London police charged Kweku M. Adoboli, a 31-year-old UBS trader, with fraud on Friday after the Swiss bank said it lost $2 billion because of unauthorized trades.
 
* Euro Ministers Are Stalled as Geithner Calls for Action

* RIM Suffers as Profit Falls 58.7%

* BofA to cut 30,000 jobs as US economy falters
Bank of America, the biggest US bank by assets, this week said it would slash 30,000 jobs and $5bn in annual expenses as the lender tries to regain investor confidence amid mounting mortgage-related expenses and a faltering US economy.

* China Official: Aiding Europe Is China's 'Responsibility'
China should help Europe as much as it can, an official with the Ministry of Commerce said Friday. "It is our responsibility to help them (Europe) within our capabilities," said Chai Xiaolin, director of the ministry's department of World Trade Organization affairs.
 
* Up or Down, China Trade Surpluses Bear Watching
With its imports rising faster than exports, China’s overall trade surplus is down sharply from where it was before the credit crisis of 2008 and 2009 caused world trade levels to fall drastically. Raymond Chan, CFA, FRM

As Head of Advanced Analytics and Performance Reporting, Ray is responsible for applying advanced analytics to the areas of performance attribution and portfolio risk management utilized in the Firm’s client service and investment processes.  Ray is a member of the GIPS Private Equity Working Group of the CFA Institute, which reviews and makes recommendations concerning standards for reporting performance in the private equity asset class. Before joining Adams Street Partners, Ray served as the Managing Director/Head of Investment Capabilities at UBS Global Asset Management.  In his eleven-year tenure with UBS, he was responsible for managing a global team that was involved with the research, design and implementation of quantitative and technological solutions that support asset allocation and risk analysis portfolio decision processes. Ray is a member of the Adams Street Partners Operating Committee and the Portfolio Construction Committee, the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Chicago and the Global Association of Risk Professionals.

1 . On 10/9/2008, host the Shanghai 2008 Oversea Talent Search Job Fair and held a small group meeting between the Shanghai Delegate, led by Mr. Sheng Yu Ruo from Shanghai Municipal Government’ s Financial Affairs Office, and TCFA Chicago core members in the Double Tree Hotel.

2 . On 1/20/2009, organized the on-spot interviews for the CSRC oversea recruitment in Sheraton Chicago Hotel and held the joint information session with CSRC Delegate, led by Mr. Zhou Jun and Mr. Qi Bing, at the Union League Club of Chicago.

3 . On 2/4/2009, organized the TCFA Chicago 2009 Chinese New Year Reception with feature speakers from local financial firms and the Consulate General.

4 . On 5/29/2010, seminar by Dr. Jenny Xu (Co-head of Global Quant Group at the Bank of America) on Risk and Risk Controls in Tradings.

5 . On 6/24/2009, seminar by well-known quant PM, Dr. Stefano Cavaglia (Head of UBSO’ Connor International Quantitative EquityTrading Group) on Why Sector Model Works in the International Stock Trading.

6 . On July 25th, 2009, The Chinese Finance Association (TCFA) Chicago Chapter, Association of Chinese Scientists and Engineers (ACSE), and alumni associations from 5 top Chinese universities: Beijing University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Tianjin University and Tsinghua University organized the 2009 Summer Picnic and Social Gathering of Professional and Alumni Associations in Chicago area.

7 . On 9/9/2009, held a small group discussion with the Deputy Consul General (Mr. Chu Maoming) and Business Consul (Mr. Chen Guo Wen) on the emission right trading history and what role China can play in emission control in the future.

8 . On 9/22/2009, host the CICC oversea recuiting information session and organized the dinner between selected job candidates/Chapter core members with the CICC team, Dr. Chu Gang and Ms. Hong Bo.

9 . On 3/11/2010, host the 2010 Chinese New Year Cocktail Reception Party at the Union League Club of Chicago.
