Mr. Gary Perlin is currently
Senior Vice President and CFO of the World Bank, a position
he assumed in February 1999. He has overall responsibility for
the financial management of IBRD and IDA, including Controller's
, Financial policy and Risk management and Treasurer's. He also
chairs the Asset and Liability Management Committee and the
Pension Finance Committee.
Mr. Perlin was formerly Vice President and Treasurer of the
World Bank, where he was responsible for managing risks and
returns on the Bank's $200 billion balance sheet, including
investment assets of $40 billion and annual borrowings and swaps
of over $20 billio.
Mr. Perlin rejoined the World Bank after a 15-year hiatus,
having begun his career there in 1975-1978. In the interim,
he spent 4 years on Wall Street and over 11 years at Fannie
Mae. For 8 years he served as Senior Vice president - Finance
and Treasurer of Fannie Mae, directing a capital markets borrowings
and risk management program of over $200 billion per year.
A US national, Mr. Perlin was educated at the Georgetown
University School of Foreign Service, the London School of
Economics and Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School
of Public and International Affiars.
